Clara's Beginning
Growing up in the tenements of Brooklyn, New York, actress Clara Bow dreamed of more. “Just one place where I could go and forget the misery and gloom of home... that was the motion pictures... for the first time in my life I knew there was beauty in the world. For the first time I saw distant lands, serene, lovely homes, romance, nobility, glamour.” Movies became Clara's escape from her troubled childhood and would come to shape her adult life.
The tenements where Clara Bow began her life was a contrast to her home at the Walking Box Ranch which sat on a property of 400,000 acres.
